This "new" commentary is the result of the author's determination to bring his original work on Acts to a "higher state of excellence" and therefore with the one McGarvey produced early in life. Upon writing his new commentary, he felt that he was "far better fitted to write a commentary on this precious book" than when he wrote his original commentary.
